Thursday 8th May — The Kenya Women Teachers Association (KEWOTA) today presented a comprehensive proposal on Teacher Professional Development (TPAD) to the Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Dr. Nancy Macharia
The delegation, led by KEWOTA CEO Madam Benter O. Pande, outlined key recommendations aimed at strengthening teacher training and continuous professional development. The presentation was delivered by Ms. Josephine, KEWOTA’s Nairobi County Coordinator, who emphasized the need for inclusive, practical, and scalable approaches to teacher development.
KEWOTA highlighted successful initiatives it has implemented, including its Digital Literacy Training Program, which has equipped thousands of women teachers with essential digital teaching and learning skills, and its Financial Literacy Program, designed to empower educators with sound financial management knowledge.
The proposal underscores KEWOTA’s commitment to advancing the personal and professional well-being of teachers in Kenya. This effort aligns with the upcoming Mental Health Awareness Walk scheduled for May 25th, which aims to bring together stakeholders to raise funds for the establishment of a Mental Wellness Centre for teachers.
KEWOTA remains steadfast in advocating for progressive policies that enhance the status, capacity, and well-being of educators across the country.
