Homa Bay Teachers Celebrate a Breakthrough Moment for Their Profession

In Homa Bay, a courtesy call disclosed the impact KEWOTA is making for teachers and the education sector in Kenya.

When the KEWOTA team visited the offices of the Teachers Service Commission in Homa Bay County, they were warmly received by County Director Mr. Oyugis. The meeting was meant to seek permission to visit schools, but something interesting unfolded. The Director expressed genuine excitement about what KEWOTA is doing for teachers and commended the initiatives by the women teachers’ outfit.

So impressed was he, that after being invited to the upcoming mental health walk, he pledged not only his support but also promised to take part in the Walk for Teachers’ Mental Wellness in Homa Bay. For women teachers, this commitment proves strong institutional backing for the prioritisation of teachers’ wellbeing.

From the TSC offices, the team proceeded to Andiwo Mixed Primary School for a training session on Mwalimu AI. KEWOTA’s interaction with teachers at the school confirmed that KEWOTA has truly understood the needs of teachers.

During the session, teachers were guided on how to prepare lesson plans and schemes of work using the platform. Within a short time, professional documents were ready. The excitement in the room was undeniable. Teachers realised how much time and effort they could now save.

One teacher openly said, “Mwalimu AI has eased our work. Thank you KEWOTA. This is what every teacher should have.”

That reaction shows that KEWOTA hit the jackpot by researching the real pain points teachers face daily and strategically partnering with Metis to deliver a practical, relevant solution.

Mwalimu AI is a direct response to the everyday pressures teachers experience in planning and documentation.

In a light moment during the training, a deputy headteacher addressed colleagues and joked, “Teachers, now let us not have cases of missing professional documents.” The room burst into laughter because everyone understood the truth behind the statement.

With Mwalimu AI, there is now no reason to fall behind on essential workflow documents.

KEWOTA’s encounter with teachers in Homa Bay demonstrated alignment between leadership and teachers.

Dear teachers, KEWOTA is listening, researching, partnering wisely, and delivering solutions that truly matter when it comes to the personal and professional well-being of teachers.

KEWOTA’s membership is growing. Teachers are joining and immediately realising the focus KEWOTA has put in terms of teacher support and development programs.
