KEWOTA Spreads Warmth to Retired Teachers in Homa Bay

Uplifting Retired Teachers Through Compassion and Connection

The Kenya Women Teachers Association (KEWOTA) continues to stand by teachers at every stage of their lives, from their first classroom to retirement and beyond.

This week, the KEWOTA National Retirees Coordinator, Madam Truphena Saisi, led a heartwarming visit to retired teachers in Asumbi, Homa Bay County, where she delivered assorted clothes and sugar donated by the KEWOTA national office.

The retirees gathered at Asumbi Teachers College to reconnect, share memories, and learn more about KEWOTA’s Retirees Program, an initiative that provides continued engagement, wellness support, and financial empowerment for retired educators.

“We Are Our Sisters’ Keepers”

“KEWOTA remains the only organization that continues to care for teachers even after retirement. We are our sisters’ keepers.”
Benta Opande, CEO, KEWOTA

In her remarks, Madam Benta Opande, KEWOTA’s Chief Executive Officer, lauded Madam Truphena and her team for their dedication to serving women teachers across the country. She encouraged retired teachers to take advantage of KEWOTA’s Investment and Health Programs, which offer opportunities for sustainable income and affordable medical care.

Several retirees and two teachers from Asumbi Girls High School also joined the association during the visit, symbolizing KEWOTA’s inclusive commitment to empowering teachers across generations.

A Legacy of Care and Empowerment

The KEWOTA Retirees Program is part of the association’s long-term strategy to ensure no woman teacher feels left behind after retirement. Through mentorship, wellness initiatives, and financial inclusion, the program promotes dignity, belonging, and a sense of purpose for women educators who have given so much to the nation.

This initiative aligns with KEWOTA’s missionto empower women teachers through advocacy, welfare support, leadership development, and socio-economic programs that enhance their professional and personal lives.
